Boylin’s Self Storage Banned Items
We have a strict policy against storing illegal items in our containers.
1. Anything illegal
We don’t allow you store things like drugs, illegal firearms, stolen goods, illegally imported pets and anything else that may fall foul of the law.
If you are not sure whether what you want to store with us is legal or not. Talk to us. There is always an employee available on the phone in all of our facilities to answer your questions.
You may have guns and other firearms that are legally registered to you, but we will not be able to store them for you. This is because firearms can accidentally go off, ignite an explosion or even worse, injure or kill people.
We do not allow explosives of any kind in our containers, including fireworks and sparklers.
In short, we do not allow storing anything that may go off when ignited or when it comes into contact with sparks because it can lead to unnecessary losses.
4. Gas and petrol canisters
When petrol, butane and other kinds of combustible gases are stored, they expand over time and will eventually explode.
We will not allow you to store any gas canisters or any containers that contain explosive gases or liquids.
It is not a good idea to store chemicals in a self storage container. Here are a couple of reasons why you cannot store them with Boylin’s.
The first is that in case of a leak the chemicals will damage the rest of your items.
The second is that a leak can be very hazardous.
If you own chemicals that need storage you should talk to the local authorities, about the best way to keep them for the long term.
If you will not need them it is best to dispose of them in an environmentally friendly and safe way.
6. Radioactive materials
These are also not allowed. They may seem stable but it is impossible to see how they will react when stored for the long term or when exposed to other materials.
In case of leaks we have no way to protect people who come near your rented container.
This is a ‘no-brainer’. Don’t put anything in a container that will rot over time.
Before you bring your refrigerator to us make sure to remove all food and drinks from it. Clean it thoroughly so that it doesn’t start to smell after a while.
Check all cupboards and cabinets to make sure that they don’t contain any perishables.
How can You Know that You are Storing Allowed Items and no Self Storage Banned Items?
As mentioned earlier, if you are unsure about any of the items that you are planning to store with us. It is best to talk to one of our employees.
They will check your items and advise you accordingly.
We also encourage you to take some time to read our ‘Terms and Conditions’.
You will see clearly what is and isn’t allowed in our facilities. If you have items that you would like to store but aren’t sure what is the best place to keep them. We can help. We have been in the storage business for many years and we can advise you on a variety of issues.
